Mock Orange
Philadelphus Virginal
This is the most popular variety of Philadelphus, bearing sweetly scented, fully double white blooms above a compact mound of tapered, mid-green leaves between June and July. These unfurl just as spring blooming shrubs are finishing their display, providing a stunning orange-blossom fragrance to the garden. It’s a deciduous variety with erect branches and a vigorous, upright growth habit, needing plenty of room to flourish. ‘Virginal’ is easy-to-grow, suitable for poor soils and resistant to disease and urban pollution.
