African Feather Grass
Pennisetum alopecuroides
Lovely, pinkish-white, bottlebrush-like flower spikes are produced on long, arching stems in July and last well into the winter. This is a charming, semi-dwarf, deciduous grass forming a rounded mound of fine-textured, bright green leaves which turn bright golden-yellow in the autumn. It has a semi-dwarf, ornamental appearance which combines well with mat-forming perennials and other grasses. As it has quite a plain appearance for most of the year until the flowering starts, we’d recommend using Pennisetum as a backdrop to spring bulbs or early flowering perennials. Remove any dead or damaged foliage in early spring before any new growth starts to appear
