Oriental Poppy
Papaver orientalis
An abundance of flamboyant, well-formed, bowl-shaped, bright scarlet-orange blooms with a pleated, papery appearance are produced on fragile, slightly hairy flowering stems from May to July. This is a strong-growing, highly sought after perennial poppy which forms a dense clump of rough, bristly, grey-green leaves which are excellent for growing in bold drifts throughout the perennial border. Perfect for the cottage garden or a sunny, well-drained bed, it should be staked before flowering and cut back in August to prevent new growth from becoming straggly. Although it’s relatively short lived it will self-seed freely if grown under ideal conditions, so your treasured poppy will come back year after year

If you order perennials whilst they are dormant, they may not be visible above the soil level when purchased but will burst into life in spring. In the dormant period, we may not have stocks of all varieties in all pot sizes and therefore reserve the right to supply 9cm pots instead of 1 or 2 litre plants and adjust the price down accordingly
