Black Lilyturf
Ophiopogon Black Dragon
An extraordinary, clump-forming, hardy evergreen perennial with stunning purple-green, strap-like leaves that turn jet black when grown in full sun and a well-drained soil. It bears delicate spikes of tiny, bell-shaped, light violet flowers in summer followed by purple-black berries. Perfect for inter-planting with small perennials or using as a foil for dwarf bulbs in spring, it looks best grown on a rock garden or raised bed where it isn’t swamped by larger plants. An excellent variety which combines well with other grasses in tubs and makes a good groundcover or edge plant for the border. It can be divided in early spring if required.
