This is a handsome, traditional English dual-purpose apple with tender flesh and a juicy, sweet flavour. It is a pleasant culinary and dessert variety which must be used as soon as it’s picked, as it does not store well and becomes dry with age. The fruits are produced on spreading branches between September and December. Tolerant of shallow, chalky soils.

  • Position: Full sun

  • Soil: Any reasonable garden soil is suitable. Tolerant of shallow, chalky soils.

  • Rate of Growth: Average to fast growing

  • Flowering Period: Grown for its fruits

  • Flower Colour: Grown for its fruits

  • Other Features: Apples should be used as soon as they are picked because they do not store well and dry out with age. Produces an abundant crop year after year. Pollination group: B

  • Garden Care: The base of the tree must be kept weed free. Remove any dead, diseased and crossing branches during the dormant season and fertilise with a well-balanced, liquid fertiliser at the beginning of each year. It must be kept well-watered during periods of hot, dry weather
