Magnolia
Magnolia denudata Yellow River
This is a deciduous variety which produces masses of intense, golden-yellow blooms in May. It has a vigorous growth habit and quickly matures into a useful, upright shrub with an almost pyramidal form, making it ideal for use as a high profile specimen or accent tree. After the flowers have disappeared, pinkish-red, cucumber-like fruits are both colourful and intriguing, and help to maintain interest into the summer months. It’s important to keep magnolias well watered, especially in periods of dry weather.
