Late Dutch Honeysuckle
Lonicera periclymenum Serotina
A magnificent, highly ornamental deciduous climber producing tubular, rich purple-red buds which open to reveal stunning, creamy-white flowers. These sweetly-scented blooms are produced in clusters continuously between July and October, gradually brightening to golden-yellow as they mature. Perfect for scrambling over walls, trellises, archways, arbours and pergolas, it makes an excellent, all-purpose climber that’s ideal for adding colour to the garden during the summer. It has an informal, cottage-garden feel with greenish-blue foliage and maroon stems that should be cut back after flowering to maintain a neat, shapely form and to keep it within desired boundaries. A popular, easy-to-grow vine whose beautiful, vibrant red berries help to attract wildlife including hummingbirds to the garden between July to October
