Privet Honeysuckle
Lonicera pileata
This is a dense, bushy variety with a spreading growth habit and angular branches which are clothed with masses of small, glossy, mid-green leaves. It makes a perfect, fast-growing low hedge and produces small, creamy-white flowers in late spring followed by translucent purple berries that are very attractive to birds in the autumn. It tends to grow laterally rather than vertically and maintains its leaves through the winter in all but the harshest conditions. Fast establishing ground cover plant.
