Lesser Corkscrew Rush
Juncus effusus Spiralis
This is an evergreen variety which has a clump forming growth habit and does very well when grown as a low ground-cover to accent other broad-leaved shade plants. It has deep green foliage which is round and twisted, measuring 10-20cm in length. It also bears occasional flowers which emerge from the side of the foliage. It is also very effective when grown as a single plant in a clay pot – i.e. a plant which can easily double as a house variety during winter months. It is fully hardy and has a potential height and spread of roughly 20cm by 20cm.
