St. John's Wort
Hypericum Hidcote
This is a compact, lush semi-evergreen shrub which bears rose-like, waxy, golden yellow flowers between July and September. These are produced on reddish, twiggy stems above dark green, lance-shaped leaves. The flowers, which appear throughout the summer, are unusually large and slightly fragrant, measuring about 8cm across in a cupped shape. We recommend providing some protection from winter frosts and cold winds as it can die to the ground in cold winter climates. If it does die to the ground in winter, new shoots will quickly develop from the base in spring. It can be grown as an informal hedge, as part of a shrub or mixed border, or even as a ground cover shrub when planted in groups

Garden Care:
We recommend providing some protection from cold winter frosts to prevent die-back in the winter. If it does die to the ground in winter, new stems will develop from the base of the plant. In the event that it dies-back to leave short, brown, dead-looking stems, cut them back to a few inches above the ground to encourage new growth. Trim as required after flowering to prevent the plant from looking leggy.
