Plantain Lily
Hosta Sum and Substance
Massive, heart-shaped, leathery, bright yellow-green leaves gradually pucker and fade to a soft golden-yellow during the summer. These have a stiff, deeply-veined appearance and are accompanied by towering spikes of stunning, bell-shaped, lilac-blue flowers on 75cm stems from July to August. Probably the biggest hosta in the world, it forms a huge, handsome mound of spectacular foliage that’s very showy from early spring until late autumn. Growing rapidly to a robust size, it makes a great focal point in the garden and is perfect for setting off bronze or dark green-leaves plants. It’s also suitable for a large container, tub or patio pot and is excellent for adding foliage contrast to a border

If you order perennials whilst they are dormant, they may not be visible above the soil level when purchased but will burst into life in spring. In the dormant period, we may not have stocks of all varieties in all pot sizes and therefore reserve the right to supply 9cm pots instead of 1 or 2 litre plants and adjust the price down accordingly
