Lenten Rose
Helleborus orientalis
This is a beautiful, robust, large-flowered Lenten rose which produces magnificent clusters of saucer-shaped, creamy-white flowers, attractively flushed with pink at the edges and heavily speckled in the centre. Unlike some other Hellebores, the flowers hold their heads up so you can see them and despite their dainty appearance they stand up well to the winter cold. It has large, leathery, deep green, semi-evergreen leaves and makes an attractive groundcover plant for dappled shade, particularly useful for under-planting deciduous trees and shrubs. If you order perennials whilst they are dormant, they may not be visible above the soil level when purchased but will burst into life in spring. In the dormant period, we may not have stocks of all varieties in all pot sizes and therefore reserve the right to supply 9cm pots instead of 1 or 2 litre plants and adjust the price down accordingly
