Broom
Genista lydia
This is a delightful, dwarf shrub which produces an abundance of cheerful yellow blooms on slender, weeping branches from late spring to early summer. These are produced above a dense mass of attractive, blue-green leaves that are perfect for cascading over rock walls or covering unsightly objects in the garden. It has a low, spreading growth habit, making it ideal for using as a ground-cover plant or for incorporating into rock gardens. We recommend pruning lightly after the plant has flowered to maintain a compact, dense growth habit. The best displays of flowers are produced when it’s situated in a dry, sunny position in poor to moderately fertile soil.
