Wood Spurge
Euphorbia robbiae

Towering spikes of beautiful, lime-yellow, dome-shaped flowers with brilliant yellow bracts are produced in abundance from April to June. This is a handsome, evergreen perennial with a compact, erect stature and reddish-green stems well-foliated with shiny, dark green leaves. It spreads by underground runners, making it a great choice for using as a carpeting weed-suppressant in the shaded areas under the canopies of trees. The dark green foliage provides a good ‘foil’ for the blooms and it can be used as a good all-year-round evergreen background to woodland plants and other shade lovers. Perfect as a strong, attractive accent, it also looks stunning in a container or at a woodland edge. Winner of the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit

Position: Tolerates Full Shade

Soil: Any reasonable, well-drained garden soil is suitable

Rate of Growth: Fast

Flowering Period: April to June

Flower Colour: Lime-yellow

Other Features: Can be container grown or allowed to naturalise the front of a border.Take care when handling as the thick, white sap is an irritant.

Hardiness: Fully hardy: stands a temperature down to -15°C

Garden Care: We recommend that you wear gloves when handling spurges as the thick, white sap is a poisonous and potential irritant. Incorporate lots of well-rotted organic matter into the backfill when planting. Apply generous well rotted organic mulch in early spring and keep well-watered during periods of dry weather.

Please Note: Many perennials go ‘dormant’ which, in some cases, means that there is little or no top growth apparent between November and March. If you order perennials whilst they are dormant, they may not be visible above the soil level when purchased but will burst into life in spring. In the dormant period, we may not have stocks of all varieties in all pot sizes and therefore reserve the right to supply 9cm pots instead of 2 litre and adjust the price accordingly.

Eventual Height:  60cm
Eventual Spread:  60cm
