Gum Tree (Snow Gum)
Eucalyptus paucifrora niphophila
This is a small, hardy, ready-branching evergreen tree bearing beautiful, small white flowers in dense clusters from late spring to early summer. It has large, narrow, spear-shaped, silvery grey leaves on orange stalks which have a beautiful leathery, cut appearance. Slow growing in habit, it also displays lovely, smooth, flaking bark which forms a beautiful patchwork of grey, green and cream. It can be grown as a tree, shrub or coppice and makes a superb evergreen tree for parks and large gardens.

Other Features:
One of the hardiest and most attractive species to grow, it is known as the Snow Gum because its native habitat is above the mountain lines. After flowering it displays grey seed capsules which are held close to the stem. Drought tolerant once established

Garden Care:
This plant requires very little pruning if grown as a tree. Simply remove any dead, damaged, diseased and crossing branches in late autumn or winter. To encourage young growth to develop the stems can also be pruned back to two or three buds above the base in early spring. Lots of well-rotted garden compost should be incorporated into the planting hole and it should be staked firmly.
