Oleaster
Elaeagnus ebbingei
This is a fast growing, evergreen shrub with large, leathery, dark grey-green leaves with silver undersides which look beautiful when blown in the wind. It produces an abundance of small yet very fragrant, silvery-cream flowers in clusters from September to October, which are followed by small, orange, egg-shaped fruits in spring. Commonly used as a garden ornamental or hedging plant, it’s tolerance of strong winds and salt-laden air makes it perfect for using in sea-side locations. Plant 45-60cm apart if being used as a hedge
