Foxglove
Digitalis excelsior
This is an effective and dramatic foxglove bearing towering spikes of large, spectacular, trumpet-shaped blooms from May to July. These are produced in stunning shades of creamy-white, pink, pale yellow and purple with bold blotches of deep maroon in the throat of each flower. It is short-lived yet very spectacular with attractive, elongated, fresh silvery-green leaves and blooms that are borne all the way around the stem, helping to bring the early summer garden to life. Perfect for the back of a mixed or herbaceous border, it also produces excellent cut flowers and looks stunning in a cottage-garden setting. We’d recommend incorporating lots of well-rotted organic matter into the planting hole if your soil is dry and free draining

Incorporate lots of well-rotted organic matter into the backfill when planting. Apply generous well rotted organic mulch in early spring and keep well-watered during periods of dry weather. Please Note: Many perennials go ‘dormant’ which, in some cases, means that there is little or no top growth apparent between November and March. If you order perennials whilst they are dormant, they may not be visible above the soil level when purchased but will burst into life in spring. In the dormant period, we may not have stocks of all varieties in all pot sizes and therefore reserve the right to supply 9cm pots instead of 2 litre and adjust the price accordingly.
