Pink
Dianthus deltoides Flashing Lights

Brilliant, upward-facing, flashing, bright red blooms with deep, carmine-red centres and a slightly darker outer edge are borne singly on tiny stems, giving the impression the flowers are levitating above the foliage. This is a stunning, evergreen, mat-forming perennial with narrow, silvery-green, grass-like leaves that provide a lovely backdrop to the blooms. Ideal for flower beds, border edges, gravel and rock gardens, it also make an attractive groundcover plant when grown in large groups. It is a free-flowering variety with attractively serrated, frilled petals that looks stunning when grown over the top of low walls or rocks.

Position: Prefers Full sun

Soil: A well-drained, open, neutral to alkaline soil. Not suitable for heavy, clay soils

Rate of Growth: Average to fast

Flowering Period: June to September

Flower Colour: Bright red

Other Features: Perfect for flower beds or borders but not suitable for heavy, clay soil

Hardiness: Fully hardy: stands a temperature down to -15°C

Garden Care: Mix in plenty of well-rotted organic matter when planting and apply a balanced liquid fertiliser once a month throughout spring and summer. Pinching out faded blooms with finger and thumb will encourage a second flush of flowers. Please Note: Although all our perennials are advertised as being sold in 1 litre containers, they are sometimes stocked in 9cm pots instead (particularly during the winter). If you order perennials from us, we reserve the right to supply them in 9cm pots instead of 1 litre containers, at a price of £3.20 instead of £3.80. Between November and March many perennials go ‘dormant’ which, in some cases, means they are sold as a root, corm or bulb with no top growth. If you order perennials whilst they are dormant, they may not be visible above the soil level when purchased but will burst into life in the spring.

Eventual Height:  20cm
Eventual Spread:  35cm
