Delphinium
Delphinium Galahad
Spectacular, towering spikes of tightly-packed, pure white, cup-shaped blooms are produced above distinctly-cut, bright green leaves from June to July. This is a dramatic, Pacific Giant hybrid with an elegant, old-fashioned, stately appearance that looks excellent when planted in bold groups at the back of a mixed or herbaceous border. Often called the kings of the herbaceous border, delphiniums are well-suited to high altitude locations and make excellent cut flowers for fresh floral arrangements. Preferring a humus-rich soil and a sheltered, sunny location, it will produce a second flush of blooms if the summer flowering stems are cut back as soon as flowering has finished. A great choice for combining with Hemerocallis and black-flowered varieties of Iris

A well-drained, humus-rich, fertile soil
Rate of Growth:
Average
Flowering Period:
June to July
Flower Colour:

Young foliage benefits from being protected from slug-damage in spring and you may need to stake flowering stems, particularly in windy areas. Cut flowering stems back after the summer flowering has finished to encourage a second flush of colour over the autumn and feed monthly during the summer with a balanced liquid fertiliser. Please Note: Many perennials go ‘dormant’ which, in some cases, means that there is little or no top growth apparent between November and March. If you order perennials whilst they are dormant, they may not be visible above the soil level when purchased but will burst into life in spring. In the dormant period, we may not have stocks of all varieties in all pot sizes and therefore reserve the right to supply 9cm pots instead of 2 litre and adjust the price accordingly.
