Daphne
Daphne Mezereum Rubra
This is a much-loved, cottage garden favourite which bursts into life with an explosion of colour in February. It bears masses of fragrant, pink or purplish flowers which are borne in clusters and smother the strongly upright, bare branches in late winter and early spring. It is perfect for a shrub border or woodland garden with well-drained, humus-rich soil. Pruning is not required and, once established, it requires very little care and attention.
