Damson
Damson insititia Merryweather
Merryweather is an excellent, all-round performer producing an abundance of plum-like fruits with blue-black skin and juicy, yellow flesh. These are large for a Damson and have a lovely, strong acidic flavour that’s valuable for culinary use. Although it’s partially self-fertile, it’s advisable to grow near another damson, gage or plum to help maximize the yield. It requires minimal pruning and does not need to be thinned out. A reliable cropper with a hardy construction that’s ripe and ready for cooking in September.
