Damson
Damson insititia Farleigh Prolific
A fantastic tart plum producing masses of dark, metallic blue, oval fruits that are blotched with black and so prolific that they cause the branches to droop down towards the floor. These are produced in clusters that are ripe and ready for cropping between August and September. Although it’s partially self-fertile, it’s advisable to grow near another damson, gage or plum to help maximize the yield. Tolerant of rot, infection, pests and diseases, it requires minimal pruning and does not need to be thinned out. A reliable cropper with a sharp flavour that’s ideal for culinary use.
