Cotoneaster
Cotoneaster waterii
This is a fully hardy, low maintenance evergreen tree which produces huge clusters of pretty, small white flowers with up to 50 flowers in each cluster in June. It has elongated, semi-glossy, deep green leaves which take on a bronze tint in the autumn at the same time as the berries are produced. It’s renowned for its striking displays of bright, rounded, glossy red berries which clothe the long, arching branches in mid-autumn and persist throughout the winter. It has a large, rounded dense habit that’s great for using in a shrub border or revitalising dull areas of the garden.
