Orchid Rock Rose
Cistus purpureus
Large and rounded, papery-looking, dark pink blooms with a distinctive maroon mark at the base of each petal, close to the flower’s rich yellow centre. These are produced in abundance on erect flowering stems between June and July, providing the plant is grown in a sheltered, sunny location. The elongated, dark green leaves are sticky when young and act as a perfect backdrop to the flowers. It has a rounded to upright growth habit and is perfect for creating an exotic effect when grown alongside silvery-leaved shrubs.
