Flowering Quince
Chaenomeles superba Jet Trail
This is a compact, flowering quince that forms a dense, twiggy shrub that typically grows to no more than a metre tall. It is noted for its beautiful pure white, early summer flowers which are borne in small clusters before the foliage emerges in an extremely showy early spring bloom. It has a broad, spreading growth habit and bears hard yellowish-green fruits which appear after the flowers and ripen in autumn. As the flowers buds are susceptible to early spring frosts the plant will need to be protected in very cold weather.
