Red Valerian
Centranthus ruber Coccineus
Beautiful, showy, rich carmine-red florets densely arranged on tall, branched flowering stems from May to August. This is a versatile, clump-forming, Mediterranean perennial with succulent, sedum-like, mid-green leaves that form a handsome, bushy mound and contrast perfectly with the vibrant flowers. Perfect for growing in groups on banks, it looks lovely when allowed to self-seed in walls and paving to create a delightful, random, natural effect. It’s also set off well against a background of stone and combines well with other cottage garden flowers. A great choice for attracting bees, butterflies and pollinating insects

Garden Care:
Incorporate lots of well-rotted organic matter into the backfill when planting. Apply generous well rotted organic mulch in early spring and keep well-watered during periods of dry weather. Please Note: Many perennials go ‘dormant’ which, in some cases, means that there is little or no top growth apparent between November and March. If you order perennials whilst they are dormant, they may not be visible above the soil level when purchased but will burst into life in spring. In the dormant period, we may not have stocks of all varieties in all pot sizes and therefore reserve the right to supply 9cm pots instead of 2 litre and adjust the price accordingly.
