Milky Bellflower
Campanula lactiflora Pritchards Variety
This is an excellent, clump-forming perennial which produces masses of stunning, pale violet-blue, bell-shaped flowers in open clusters from July to September. It has fresh, bright green, crinkly leaves with slightly serrated edges that provide a lovely backdrop to the handsome blooms. Perfect for the cottage garden, it looks great when planted in sweeping drifts in the perennial border and combines well with old-fashioned roses at the back of a mixed or herbaceous border.

Garden Care:
Cut back faded flowers immediately to encourage a second flush of blooms and maintain a neat appearance. It requires some protection from slugs and should be lifted and divided every 3 to 4 years, removing older growth before re-planting. The delicate flowering stems may need to be staked to prevent them from drooping and it benefits from a generous mulch of well-rotted compost in spring to encourage new growth. Please Note: Many perennials go ‘dormant’ which, in some cases, means that there is little or no top growth apparent between November and March. If you order perennials whilst they are dormant, they may not be visible above the soil level when purchased but will burst into life in spring. In the dormant period, we may not have stocks of all varieties in all pot sizes and therefore reserve the right to supply 9cm pots instead of 1 or 2 litre plants and adjust the price down accordingly.
