Garden Care:
The plant should be protected from cold, dry winds and early morning sun in order to prevent damage to the emerging buds. You must also ensure that the ground that it is grown in is reasonably moist. If it becomes dry during hot summers regular watering will be required to prevent bud drop. A balanced liquid fertiliser should also be applied in mid-spring and again in June. Adding a top dressing of shredded bark or well-rotted leaf mould will also help to encourage new growth. Pruning should be light and should take place after flowering. Simply remove any dead or damaged branches – no hard pruning or cutting back is required. Container grown specimens should be protected in winter using bubble wrap or another appropriate material.
