Feather Reed Grass
Calamagrostis Overdam
A tall, upright, dramatic grass that’s perfect for adding architectural flare to a perennial border or giving a sense of scale in Japanese gardens. It forms a dense mound of arching, pink-tinged, bright green leaves with beautiful, creamy-yellow vertical stripes along the sides of the leaf blades, fading to white as the flowers appear. In late autumn both the leaves and the flowers take on a brilliant shade of bronzy-orange that helps to add colour and interest to the winter garden. Looking particularly attractive along a woodland edge, it should be cut back to the ground in February before the new shoots start to appear. A highly ornamental variety that can be planted in a group to form a dense screen.
