Butterfly Bush (Buddleja)
Buddleja davidii Harlequin
A fast growing shrub which bears panicles of fragrant, red-purple flowers that are very attractive to butterflies. It is a woody plant that has yellow and green variegated foliage with spectacular blooms being borne in summer. The Harlequin variety is quite hardy and renowned for its continuous flowers into late summer. It is a truly stunning plant that should be grown in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun.

Garden Care:
In order to maintain the spectacular variegation any stems where the leaves have reverted to plain green should be cut right back. In March the whole plant should be pruned – removing the previous year’s growth to three or fours buds.
