Barberry
Berberis thunbergii Helmond Pillar
A dwarf Barberry with ovate, deep purple leaves and beautiful yellow flowers which are produced between April and May. It is a deciduous variety with an erect growth habit, making it ideal for adding architectural interest to the garden or for acting as a change from normal domed and bell-shaped shrubs. In the autumn it takes on brilliant shades of bronzy-red before the leaves fall to reveal a compact mass of upright stems. Pretty red fruits are produced in early autumn and persist until the plant is bare.
