Barberry
Berberis thunbergii Golden Rocket
This is a sensational prickly, low deciduous shrub. It has outstanding, bright golden foliage that, unlike many other golden leafed varieties, will not scorch in the sun. This makes it ideal for growing in a sunny spot of the garden. It has a naturally upright growth habit and can be also be used as a hedging plant (planting 60 to 90cm apart to form a dense hedge).
