Barberry
Berberis Darwinii
This is a reliable, eye-catching Barberry with small, spiky, dark green leaves and pendant, golden-yellow flowers which are borne in great profusion between April and May. It is a charming evergreen variety that has an erect growth habit with all of the stems coming from ground level. Winner of the RHS Award of Garden Merit, it becomes quite sizeable and can be used as a border shrub or as an effective, intruder-deterrent hedge. One of the best flowering evergreens available.
