Splendens Beach Thrift
Armeria maritima Splendens
A robust, clump-forming, evergreen perennial with deep green, grass-like foliage and rounded heads of intensely-coloured, deep pink blooms. These are produced on erect flowering stems between May and August and contrast beautifully with the foliage. Growing best in a poor to moderately fertile soil, it’s ideal for planting alongside walkways, rock gardens and garden edges. It’s also tolerant of salt-laden air making it a great choice for growing in dry, infertile alpine gardens near the coast. We recommend pinching out faded flowers immediately to encourage a second flush of colour.

Many perennials go ‘dormant’ which, in some cases, means that there is little or no top growth apparent between November and March. If you order perennials whilst they are dormant, they may not be visible above the soil level when purchased but will burst into life in spring. In the dormant period, we may not have stocks of all varieties in all pot sizes and therefore reserve the right to supply 9cm pots instead of 1 or 2 litre plants and adjust the price down accordingly.
