Monkshood
Aconitum Arendsii
Branched panicles of large, masculine, purple-blue hooded flowers are produced on beautiful, slender stems from July to August. A very productive, tall monkshood with deeply-divided, dark green leaves and an outstanding flower colour. It looks stunning when grown ‘en masse’ at the back of a partially shaded border or allowed to form an airy mound about 75cm high. If staked it can reach up to 2 metres tall and sometimes produces a second flush of flowers from September to October. An outstanding, care-free variety.

Make sure the planting hole is deep enough and stake before the flowers appear. Always wear gloves when handling monkshood. Please Note: Although all our perennials are advertised as being sold in 1 litre containers, they are sometimes stocked in 9cm pots instead (particularly during the winter). If you order perennials from us, we reserve the right to supply them in 9cm pots instead of 1 litre containers, at a price of £2.80 instead of £3.80. Between November and March many perennials go ‘dormant’ which, in some cases, means they are sold as a root, corm or bulb with no top growth. If you order perennials whilst they are dormant, they may not be visible above the soil level when purchased but will burst into life in the spring.
