Japanese Maple
Acer pseudoplatanus Brilliantissimum
This is a small, deciduous tree that is reasonably hardy. Opening, like a spring flower, in a marvellous tone of shrimp pink, the leaves of this slow-growing shrub/small tree change to lime green and finally to a darker shade of that colour. The flowers appear in April to May and look most attractive when the plant is grown in partial shade. Prefers a position in a well-drained, fertile soil.
