Japanese Maple
Acer palmatum atropurpurea
A beautiful small tree bearing the most attractive, deep burgundy maple shaped leaves. In winter the foliage turns a really bright scarlet. Can be grown in a large tub, or in the back of the border to form a large shrub or small tree that won't overgrow the garden.

Hardiness:
Fully hardy: stands a temperature down to -15°C
Garden Care:
Plant in a sheltered area to protect from wind. Submerge pot in a bucket of water before planting. Water well during establishment. Add Osmocote type feed on planting and each spring. It does not require regular pruning but dead, damaged and crossing branches can be removed in April when the plant is in full growth.
